Conference FAQ’s

Is Web Con 2024 being offered virtually, in person, or hybrid?

Web Con 2024 sessions take place virtually on the Zoom Events platform. This means all speakers for all conference sessions occur on Zoom, and all attendees need to be on a device to participate.

We are hosting a free in-person social meet-up that is free for conference registrants at the Gallery Art Bar in Urbana, Illinois. A local vendor is catering the event.

I’m an attendee. Where can I find information about how to log onto this year’s conference?

Everything you need to know about joining this year’s conference can be found on the Web Con Tutorials page, which includes:
Accessing Presentation Slides
Navigating Web Con
Connecting and Networking at Web Con
Building Your Conference Presence

There are videos to help you navigate the conference as well.

If you’re still having issues, you can reach out to the Web Con organizing committee at uofiwebcon@illinois.edu.

I’m a presenter. What do I need to know?

Web Con 2024 sessions will take place virtually on the Zoom Events platform, and we are requiring all presentations to be accessible. Visit Presenting at Web Con to learn more about our guidelines and requirements. If you have any questions about your presentation, please reach out to us at uofiwebcon@illinois.edu.

Speakers do not need to register for Web Con using the regular conference registration form. We will send you a speaker registration form early in the spring.

Is this an accessible conference?

The University of Illinois is committed to providing universally accessible services and opportunities to everyone. We work with units across campus to ensure we are meeting accessibility requirements. If you are a conference attendee and need accommodations, please indicate that on your registration form. If you’re not sure whether you did, reach out to us ahead of the conference to ensure you have everything you need. Presentation materials will be available in advance. Visit Presenting at Web Con to learn more about our presentation guidelines and requirements.

What time zone is the conference occuring in?

The conference takes place in U.S. central time (CDT), and our website and materials reflect those times. The Zoom Events platform that we use should adjust the times to reflect the location you are currently in to help you get to your sessions on time no matter where on the globe you are.
