The University of Illinois Urbana Champaign is located about 150 miles south of Chicago.  You have several options for travel to the area.

By Air:

Willard Airport:

By Rail:

You can also take to the rails with Amtrak. With stops in downtown Champaign at Illinois Terminal and Rantoul, you can hitch a ride with hundreds of other passengers and kick back in the commute, enjoying free WiFi so you can stay connected. With daily routes out of Chicago heading as far south as New Orleans, you’ll embark on an environmentally friendly way to travel that lands you in the heart of our city.

Driving to ESB:

From I-57/I-72

Take the I-72/University Avenue exit heading East. This becomes University
Avenue. You will drive through downtown Champaign crossing Mattis and Neil
Streets before passing the MTD Bus Station, Champaign Police Station and
Presence Covenant Medical Center. The Hampton Inn will be on the left-hand side of University, Turn right down Goodwin Avenue until you come to a stop light, that is Springfield. ESB is on the Southeast corner.

From I-74
Take the Lincoln Avenue exit and head South on Lincoln to Springfield Avenue and turn left. ESB will be at the end of the second block on the right.

From Willard Airport
Exit the Airport turning left onto Route 45 heading North. Route 45 becomes Neil
Street once you pass Savoy. Stay on Neil going through major intersections with
Kirby, Stadium, Green to Springfield (Fanny Mae store is on this corner) and turn right. You will follow Springfield until you cross Goodwin Avenue.  ESB is on the South East Corner of Goodwin and Springfield.

Parking: Metered parking is available on the street. The Hampton Inn is a short walk away, so hotel guests may prefer to leave their cars there. The parking lot behind the building is a University lot that is available for free parking ONLY outside of regular office hours, which means any time except 8am – 6pm Monday through Friday. The Hyatt Place does have parking and a Shuttle that will bring you to campus, it must be arranged with the hotel front desk.

Walking To ESB from Hampton Inn:  From the Hampton, cross University and walk South on Goodwin. The Engineering Sciences Building (ESB) is about three blocks South of the Hampton Inn, located at the corner of Springfield and Goodwin. You may enter the building from the North side (Springfield Avenue).
