Good Morning Illini!

My name is Andrea Cannon and I am a junior majoring in broadcast journalism with minors in Spanish and public relations.  This is my first semester with GMI and I am looking forward to getting more experience in front of the camera.  For the past three years, I have been a student intern for Fighting Illini Productions.  I have worked on Big Ten Student U broadcasts creating graphics and operating a camera. I also have the privilege of traveling with the women’s gymnastics team to some of their meets and creating highlight videos for them.

Outside of all things journalism, I am the director of recruitment counselors for the Panhellenic Council for formal recruitment 2020 and the vice president of Order of Omega, a Greek Honor Society.

Both my parents are University of Illinois alumni, so I have been bleeding orange and blue and cheering on the Illini my whole life.  I hope next semester I can be a part of Illini Sports Night because I am passionate about Illini sports and my dream job is to be a sideline reporter. I hope that the experience I gain from Good Morning Illini will prepare me for a future in the broadcast journalism world for years to come.
