About Me

Welcome to the inner workings of a freshman Journalism student.

My name is Molly McQuaid. I study Advertising here at the University of Illinois. My interest in the field stems from my love of graphic design and art. Some of my favorite artists include Henri Fantin-Latour, Mark Rothko and Claude Monet. All of their works can be found at the Art Institute of Chicago, one of my most frequented places in the city. My hometown of Naperville, Illinois is about forty minutes outside of Chicago.

I have three sisters and I love when they come and visit me, but only because they think my 12″ x 12″ dorm room is the best thing they’ve ever seen.

In addition to looking at art, I find myself making it every once in a while. Drawing, painting and calligraphy are my mediums of choice. My other joys in life include film, coffee, reading and basketball.

Some of my favorite films include Whiplash, Good Will Hunting, Spotlight and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. In regards to television, I watch House of Cards, Game of Thrones, Shameless, Parks and Recreation and Mad Men.

I spend my time on campus working as the Assistant Editor for the Illio Yearbook, attending as many basketball games as I can, and frequenting coffee shops because I nurse a serious caffeine addiction.

If you find yourself wondering why you’re here, let me know if you figure it out because I wonder the same thing — kidding, mostly. I intend to use this platform not only for the required assignments, but also for the opportunity to grow and share my opinions with the world. Thanks for reading, hope you enjoy!
