During the summer we have fewer course restrictions than we do during the Fall/Spring semesters. Some courses may be restricted to iSchool students in particular programs. Our restrictions for the upcoming summer term are listed below. Restrictions for a particular course or section may also be found in the Course Explorer each semester. These are subject to change without notice, though we will try to keep it updated. Restrictions for a particular course or section can also be found in the Course Explorer, and also within the course’s info within Enhanced Registration.
The removal of restrictions does not guarantee available space in a course. If there are no available seats, try to find another section. Also, the removal of restrictions is a manual process that must be done section-by-section. Therefore it is impossible to state at exactly what time restrictions will be changed/removed on the given dates. We will typically try to get them done before 12pm on the given day, but it may take longer depending on other factors.
Courses that are controlled by our department and cross-listed with other departments (such as IS 310 / INFO 310) will only note the IS-side restrictions below. Seats in the non-IS sections are typically restricted per an agreement with that department, for their own students. Students in non-IS majors should consult with their advisors if they have difficulty getting a seat in such a course.
Some courses that use the IS rubric are not controlled by our department. Such courses will simply say “See [other course]” instead of having a description in the Course Explorer. IS 107 (STAT 107) is an example, controlled by the STAT Department. Courses outside the iSchool in the + Data Science (+DS) curriculum which are not controlled by IS are not listed. See the Course Explorer listings for those courses for more info on the controlling department.
