School Library Practicum

Interested in gaining pre-professional experience in a school library setting? Consider IS 591 AMO: School Library Practicum for Spring 2019!

IS 591 AMO practicum is a 2-credit supervised field experience of professional-level duties in a school library, and it is open to both on-campus and online students. During this specialized practicum, students complete a minimum of 100 hours at an elementary, middle, high school or district school library. Before registering for school library practicum, students must have completed 14 hours of library and information science coursework.

IS 591 AMO: School Library Practicum is required for students enrolled in the School Librarian Licensure Program and is usually completed one semester prior to student teaching. It is also highly recommended for school librarian endorsement students whom currently hold an Illinois educator license.  Please note, this is a specialized practicum, separate from IS 591: General Practicum.

Fill out our practicum interest form by October 15th to begin the process!
