Foundational and Modern Concepts in Makeup Water Treatment

Consistent makeup water pre-treatment for bulk needs and polishing for high-purity use are critical for reliable operation of power and co-generation facilities. Numerous examples exist of makeup system upsets or poor design that induced cooling and service water system fouling, corrosion/scaling in boilers, and other difficulties, which in turn required partial or complete unit shutdown for repairs. The 2024 pre-workshop training seminar examines the evolution of makeup water treatment methods from fundamental designs to state-of-the-art technologies that offer precise performance with the aid of modern electronic control and data acquisition capabilities.
