Biography

At the University of Illinois, I am a Research Assistant Professor specializing in the effects of nutrition on health outcomes and the microbiome. My expertise in pet nutrition includes conducting and collaborating on various studies that assess ingredient and diet evaluation, dietary tolerance, nutrient digestibility, and the oral/fecal/skin microbiome using canines, felines, and alternative animal models. Our research has made a significant contribution to addressing critical pet nutrition issues such as obesity, gastrointestinal, oral, and skin health, and nutrient/diet digestibility. We assist the pet food industry in producing safe and efficient products while also raising awareness of potential issues related to over-processing of foods, treats, and ingredients. In the future, I aim to continue investigating the role of nutrition in managing and mitigating chronic diseases, as well as promoting pet health. I am committed to sharing my knowledge and expertise with others.
