Biography

I am a Ph.D. student under the supervision of Dr. Kelly Swanson. My research focuses on the use of novel protein ingredients in canine and feline diets. Recently, I conducted a study investigating the nutrient digestibility of raw dog foods and their effects on the gastrointestinal microbiome and the health of the host. My master’s thesis investigated mealworm-based ingredients as an alternative protein source for canine and feline diets. With my research, I aim to understand the comparisons between novel and traditional protein ingredients and use that knowledge in the pet food industry once I complete my terminal degree.
