About Us

Recently re-established in February of 2017, the Graduate Student Association of Animal Scientists (Animal Sciences GSA) has been up to some exciting things. The goal of the GSA is to provide an opportunity for scientific interaction between graduate students and faculty in the Department of Animal Science in order to increase intradepartmental communication and provide a forum for exchange of scientific information. All currently enrolled graduate students whose major professors is a member of the Graduate Faculty of the Department of Animal Science are automatically members. We typically have one monthly meeting and one social event per month. There is no required time commitment, and all students are welcome to attend when their schedules allow.

The activities hosted by GSA each semester are intended to provide experiences to enrich our soft skills. This is accomplished by coordinating various events, both for fun and professional experiences. Professionally, we have multiple presentations on presenting, job searches/interviews, and other speakers. Our social activities range from our annual tailgate and ugly sweater party to the end of the semester graduate program potluck.

If interested in learning more, come to one of our meetings or contact an officer!
