P1100004

My research interests include ancient DNA analysis, population genetics, the process of domestication, the history of the domestic dog, human-domesticate coevolution and the use of domestic animals as a proxy to study humans. I have an interest in using bioinformatic as well as wet-lab techniques to study my samples.

Current Projects

  • Sequencing complete mitochondrial genomes of dogs in the Americas to study their demographic history, and also relating it to human history in the Americas

  • Performing isotope analysis on ancient dog remains from the Illinois River Valley and correlating it to DNA sequences from contemporaneous dog coprolites (fossilized feces) to assess shifts in dog diet over time
