Meet the Printers

The Illinois Geometry Lab is the proud own of two 3D printers. The first printer in our arsenal is the MakerBot Replicator.

First introduced in 2012, MakerBot industries advertised that this replicator was the “essential tool for children and students…. Just like the youth of the 1980’s, who had access to computers, children with access to a MakerBot Replicatorâ„¢ will become the leaders who make a better tomorrow.” At the University of Illinois we’re certainly invested in bringing this mission to life.

Students gather to watch the MakerBot print on January 24th, 2015 during Lego League.

Our second printer is the Ultimaker 2.

The Ultimaker 2 was created to be simple to use and open source. It is an added bonus that it prints quietly and has such an elegant presence in the lab.
