Our Class Blog

Hi All,

I’m enjoying reading your posts and comments on our blog. Please remember that you need 4 posts and 4 comments to complete this assignment. Each of your posts should consider a different one of the books we’ve read. If you haven’t had a chance to write about the Bewitching of Anne Gunther, please do so before the exam on Monday the 17th.

All comments are due that day too.

Blog Assignment

Blog entries are one of your assignments for this course. You are required to write four posts in the semester and to comment on postings of classmates four times. Each post should be about 75-100 words; each comment at least 30-50 words. Once you have fulfilled the minimum, you are welcome to post and comment as much as you’d like.

For each book that we read:

The Tain;

The Heart and Stomach of a King: Elizabeth I and the politics of Sex and Power; The

Chronicle of the Abbey of Bury St. Edmunds

The Betwitching of Anne Gunter,

please choose a quotation to respond to in your post. The quotation should appear as the first paragraph of your blog entry with the post right after. Relate the quotation to our class discussions, the themes we are tracing, or to themes in the readings that our class discussions have neglected.

The style can be casual, but academic. It should have an argument explaining why you chose the quotation and how it relates to the course and it should be written according to the conventions of grammar and spelling.

Your comments to other posts can be short, but they should be thoughtful and substantive. You might weigh in with either confirmation of the original point (perhaps supported with different evidence) or contradiction of it (again with some evidence from a primary or a secondary source). Or you can take the comment in a different direction raising different issues connected to the post.

One blog entry and one comment must be posted by September 30. Five blog posts/comments must be completed by October 28.
