Research Project Job Opportunity

Curriculum and Instruction Clinical Assistant Professor Sheila Dean would like to hire 3-4 education students to work about 25-35 hours each on the project described below at the rate of $10/hour, preferably during spring semester, but the project completion date is August, so summer work is also possible.  If interested, contact Sheila Dean at srdean@illinois.edu.

Students will work on a project to develop a K-12 sustainability resource (online) for Illinois teachers and pre-service teachers.  One part of this resource will be an annotated bibliography of the better-quality materials.  Another part of the resource will be example problem-based units addressing both local and global sustainability issues.  Another part will be a good, complete brief overview of all of the facets of sustainability and example interdisciplinary introductory lessons.  Finally, it will include general guidelines for teachers to use to develop their own PBL sustainability units focused around their own very specific local issues. Students working on the project will primarily be searching for appropriate materials online and in published form, compiling information, and possibly modifying or writing lesson plans and units. No specific experience is required but website development experience would be useful.
