IB 109: Insects and People course available for Spring 2013

Anyone need to satisfy a Gen Ed Natural Science and Technology requirement?  Love bugs?  Fear them?  In Spring Semester 2013, sign up for IB109—Insects and People

Two sections: in lecture-only (3 h CRN34464), learn about locust plagues, silk, honey and wax, praying mantis kung fu, Spanishfly, lice, sacred scarabs, zombie cockroaches, killer bees, and insects in art, law, music and movies!

In the lab section (4 h, CRN344870), do honey-tasting, insect-eating, field trips, beeswax candle-making, cochineal tie-dying, and CSI-style maggot hunting!

Taught by May Berenbaum (LAS Distinguished Teaching Award, Entomological Society of America Distinguished Teaching Award and inspiration for “Dr.                                           Bambi Berenbaum” of the X-Files)

See the world through compound eyes!  There are *plenty* of spaces, especially in the lab section!  If you need to satisfy your Gen Ed Nat Sci requirement, there’s a fun way to do it!
