Digital Pedagogy: Reflections on readings

Our first meeting we discussed the Preface of Minds Online and our expectations for these 9 weeks of readings. The part of the Preface that I focused on was how technology helps to amplify and expand teaching strategies to elicit memory, attention, effort and engagement (p. xii).

TECHNOLOGY AFFORDS WHICH PROMOTES
low stakes testing    —> memory for material
spacing of study —> reflection and prevents cramming
multiple ways to present materials —>  knowledge transfer
learning using preferred  learning styles
different forms of engagement with content —>  comprehension
frequent and varied opportunities for practice —> expertise development
social learning —> holistic involvement with materials, including emotions
