FPGA Acceleration

We mainly use Xilinx FPGA and SoC to accelerate ultrasound applications such as ultrafast plane wave beamforming and high data rate through tissue communication. By tightly connecting FPGA such as Xilinx Kintex 7 and SoC such as Xilinx Zynq 7000 and Zynq Ultrascale+ with analog front end, we could achieve much higher performance compared to traditional PC based solutions.

We also utilize Xilinx accelerator such as Alveo U55C to enable even higher frame rate plane wave beamforming.

Ultrafast Ultrasound Imaging

More than 10,000 PRF is achieved with our ultrafast ultrasound imaging research. Our special beamforming technique enabled higher frame rate with lower power consumption compared with traditional PC or FPGA based solutions. We are currently pursuing real-time continuous ultrafast ultrasound imaging with our FPGA based beamformer technique.

Ultrasound Communication

To enable real-time high definition video transmission for wireless capsule endoscopy, we explore the possibilities of using ultrasound as a communication scheme inside human body. Over 15 Mbps data was achieved with our multi-channel receiver design and miniature transmit transducer. Up to 4K FFT OFDM and 256 QAM was used. We are pursuing even higher data rate with RFSoC and MIMO technique.
