Biography

David Buchta is a postdoctoral researcher focused on adjoint-based sensitivity of reacting flow turbulence and large-scale simulation of plasma-coupled combustion. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in 2008 and Ph.D. in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with his advisor, Prof. Jonathan Freund, in 2016. David has two years of industry experience developing advanced probabilistic risk assessment models to predict human health consequences related to a comprehensive range of CBRNE scenarios. His current research interests are uncertainty quantification efforts related to plasma-coupled combustion, adjoint-based sensitivity analysis and optimization, and large-scale simulation of compressible free-shear-flow turbulence.
