River Otters Activity

INHS Wildlife Epidemiologist Dr. Nohra Mateus-Pinilla and researcher Samantha Carpenter are studying the North American River Otter, a species that was once nearly extirpated from the state. Utilizing trail cameras and tracking plates, they were able to gain some preliminary information. With the help of students in the Electrical and Computer Engineering program at University of Illinois, the researchers hope to use newly designed technological devices to gather even more information on these animals.
