About

The Fighting Illini Army ROTC Battalion is a premier leadership development program rooted in over 150 years of tradition, service, and academic excellence. Headquartered at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign—one of the nation’s leading public research institutions—we proudly serve as the host program for cadets from both UIUC and Eastern Illinois University. Together, we form one of the largest and most dynamic ROTC battalions in the Midwest, with over 170 cadets as of Spring 2026!

Our program prepares students to become future officers in the U.S. Army through a challenging curriculum that blends classroom instruction, hands-on field training, and real-world leadership opportunities. Whether cadets are pursuing careers in combat arms, nursing, cyber operations, or logistics, they graduate with the skills, confidence, and character to lead America’s sons and daughters.

With dedicated housing, exclusive partnerships like our early employment pipeline with Caterpillar, and full in-state tuition for all cadets, the Fighting Illini Battalion offers one of the most competitive and supportive commissioning pathways in the country.
