2024 HRD Graduate Student Research Conference

Location: Education Building Room 22 and Zoom

The 2024 HRD Graduate Student Research Conference is calling for abstracts to share the scholarship of our graduate students. 

The purpose of this graduate student research conference is to provide students with an opportunity to present their research projects and have constructive discussions with peers and faculty to further develop their research programs. In the proposal, students are encouraged to address one or more of the following issues related to HRD:

  • Assessment, Evaluation, and HRD Research Methodology 
  • Corporate Social Responsibility and Ethics in HRD 
  • Critical, Social Justice, and Diversity Perspectives in HRD 
  • HRD and Sustainable Development 
  • National, International, Global, and Cross-Cultural Issues 
  • Leadership, Strategy, and Engagement 
  • Organization Development, Performance, and Change 
  • Virtual HRD 
  • Workplace Learning, Training, and Career Development 
  • Other Emerging Issues and Innovations in Organizations, Communities, and Societies 

Students can participate in one of the two categories:

  • Category 1: Completed Research Paper Presentation
  • Category 2: Work-in-Progress Lightning Talk

Here are the guidelines for each:

Category 1: Completed Research Paper Presentation

This category is intended for presenting any completed research projects (e.g., Early Research Projects, PhD or EdD dissertations). Students will have 15 minutes for the presentation and 5 minutes for questions and comments. Submissions should be 300-350 words in length, not including the title, keywords, and selected references. 

Your submission should include the following:

  • Title 
  • Three to five keywords 
  • Problem statement 
  • Research purpose 
  • Research question(s) 
  • Methods used 
  • Results and conclusion including implications for research and practice 
  • Selected references 

Category 2: Work-in-Progress Lightning Talk

This category is intended for presenting any work-in-progress research projects (e.g., Early Research Project proposals, PhD or EdD dissertation proposals). Students will have 10 minutes for the presentation and 5 minutes for questions and comments. Submissions should be 200-250 words in length, not including the title, keywords, and selected references. 

Your submission should include the following:

  • Title 
  • Three to five keywords 
  • Problem statement 
  • Research purpose 
  • Research question(s) 
  • Methods being used or to be used 
  • Expected results and conclusion including implications for research and practice 
  • Selected references 

All proposals must be submitted by March 31, 11:59 pm Central Time.
