Black Belt Evaluation in Madison, WS – Saturday, March 28th

This Spring, black belt evaluations are being hosted in the midwest at the Choi Taekwondo at the University of Wisconsin Madison club on Saturday, March 28th. Those traveling to the event plan to leave on Friday, March 27th and return the evening of Saturday, March 28th. If there are any students interested in traveling to the evaluation please provide your contact information on this interest spreadsheet by March 7th so the appropriate travel and lodging arrangements can be made.
Save the Date for End of the Semester Belt Test – Saturday, May 2nd 
Mark your calendars for the end of the semester belt test (Saturday, May 2nd). The testing opportunity will take the place of the scheduled TKD class. All are welcome and encouraged to attend in uniform to help out by holding targets, free-sparring, taking pictures and encouraging your fellow club members.

Congratulations to our newest white belt Michaela!

Additional white belt testing opportunities will be held during the last ten minutes of a regularly scheduled class. Please make sure to notify the primary instructor at the beginning of class so that we can plan accordingly.

Increased traffic at ARC Today 2/15/2020
Further, there is a wheelchair basketball tournament this weekend (2/15 & 2/16). So there will be increased traffic within the ARC and limited availability in parking. I hope to still see several students in class this afternoon.
 
TKD Goes Bowling This Sunday

White Belt Testing Opportunities in February

White Belt Testing Opportunities
Starting the week of February 10th the last 10 minutes of class for any new student that wishes to take a white belt test. The white belt test is a brief physical test that will take place at the end of a regularly scheduled class and be followed with questions. If you feel you comfortably know Chun Gi (first form), the school rules, and the Korean counting/terminology then you are ready to take the white belt test. You can find the school rules, the definition of Taekwondo, aims to achieve, Korean exercise counting and terminology on our website http://publish.illinois.edu/tkd-illinois/. After new students pass the white belt test they have the opportunity to purchase a uniform for $18.

Arriving Late – Perform the Late Warm-up Sequence
If you do arrive late to TKD class (after the class has finished the initial jumping jacks) please perform the late warm-up sequence, bow in and join the class. The late warm-up sequence is 50 jumping jacks, 50 push-ups, 50 sit-ups, and 50 leg lifts. It is extremely important to warm-up the body before beginning kicking drills and martial arts training.
