Biography: Guoqing Zhao earned his bachelor’s degree in applied chemistry, a master’s degree in chemical engineering, and a doctorate in chemistry. He finished his first postdoctoral project with Prof. Dongyuan Zhao’s group at Fudan University. He then became a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, working with Snyder’s lab. Prior to joining UIUC, his research concentrated on the development of industrial catalysts from the lab to their real-world application in chemical manufacturing processes. He contributed in development of four distinct types of zeolite catalysts at industrial scale that have been loaded into various units. He is currently studying the mechanism and channel effect of selective hydroxylation in zeolites containing α-Fe. His hobbies include squash, badminton, cycling, driving, puzzles, and watching movies.
