Therevid PEET team members have had opportunities to visit the laboratories of fellow PEETsters and other colleagues to learn new skills and further their research goals. Because each person has different strengths and proficiencIes, these visits and exchanges offer a chance for everyone to become more well-rounded.
Therevid PEET participants also visit museums and various collections to meet with colleagues, sort through the therevid specimens that may not be able to be mailed, photograph and document types, and identify some of the unsorted Diptera that may have lain in the museum’s collection for many years awaiting the attention of an expert. On rare occasions, type specimens that had been considered lost have even been found in unexpected places. The exchanges are of benefit to all concerned.
