Research Question

I finally came down to the idea of researching what impact Title IX has had in the the sports industry for women. This is important because Title IX was made so women weren’t discriminated against in federally-funded education, including in athletics programs. As a result of Title IX, women and girls have benefited from more participation opportunities and more equitable facilities. This law was implemented so that women can be treated fairly and be given the same opportunities just as men. Some people back then thought this law would would have an effect on males negatively when it doesn’t. For example, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and high school administrators complained that boys’ sports would suffer if girls’ sports had to be funded equally.

All in all, as a result of Title IX, women have benefited from involvement in sports and, the sports industry is more entertaining with their participation. Today, women continue to excel in every field of athletics and education as a result of Title IX. We know gender equality in education and athletics has not yet been met fully, but with the progress seen thus far, equality is foreseeable in the near future.

Research Topic Quiz

I’m will use the database to find articles that scholarly to use as evidence. I’ll be researching either the diversity in sports or Title IX. I know sports are becoming more inclusive but we can do better in society to make it more enjoyable for everyone. Since I am a female I will be biased on how female athletes are treated compared to males but I have to look at the facts as to why one is more popular than the other.
