The TED Fellows program grew out of the Transatlantic Educators Dialogue (TED) program, launched in 2010 by the European Union Center at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. In the original TED program, which is now in its 14th year, educators in Europe and the United States come together online for shared exploration and examination of a variety of educational topics, such as global collaboration, supporting diverse learning needs, parental involvement, and technology in the classroom. More than 500 educators have participated in TED to date, and TED Fellows aims to provide alumni of the TED program with an opportunity to collaborate on projects, discuss current events and classroom experiences, and develop global professional networks. Moderated by Jennifer Smith, the TED Fellows program spans the school year, with two project showcases in December and May.

About the Moderator
Jennifer Smith is a National Board Certified Teacher with eighteen years of experience. She currently teaches middle school courses for Illinois Virtual Schools and Academy, teaches undergraduate science methods courses, and is the director of the National Board Resource Center at Illinois State University. Jennifer holds master’s degrees in English, Elementary Education, and Teacher Leadership. Her accomplishments include receiving the Association of American Chemistry Teachers Middle School Teacher of the Year award, the Golden Apple Teacher of Distinction award, and she was a PBS Digital Innovator. Jennifer is a life-long learner who strives to continually improve her teaching practice.
