The Tabanid database was a primary impetus for the latest Mandala upgrade to version 8.0. In addition to reducing the number of files from 23 to 3 and increasing the number of tables to 28 (newest addition 6/2009 will allow tracking of gene products), these added tables now track the progress and history of molecular studies including extractions, PCR products, primers, sequences, and gene products, including links to GenBank. A customizable morphology table was also added. These features are now being tested with the tabanid data imported from earlier work by Shelah Morita and Keith Bayless.

A web interface to Tabanid Mandala will follow in 2009 as the data are vetted in the new system. Meanwhile see how TherevidWebMandala works in the Therevid PEET project or check out some of the history of Mandala
