Graduate students
We accept graduate student applications through the Department of Bioengineering and the Medical Scientist Training Program. We look for students with experience in molecular/cellular biology, biophysics/biophotonics, computer science/engineering, and/or mathematics.
Undergraduate students
There are currently no openings for undergraduate researchers in the laboratory. However, when we do have openings, we consider undergraduates from all departments at the University of Illinois with preference given to sophomores who are taking or who have taken BIOE 202 in the Fall semester. Students should be willing to perform research in the laboratory for the remainder of their undergraduate tenure. Undergraduates will typically volunteer or work for credit. The expected time commitment is 8-10 hours per week.
