Concerto Competition

All participants in the Summer Piano Institute are invited to audition for the opportunity to perform a piano concerto with the resident professional orchestra of Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, Sinfonia da Camera.

The winner(s) will perform in the first half of the July 29 concert with Sinfonia da Camera conducted by Maestro Hobson. The second half will be a performance of Gershwin’s Concerto in F by Professor Aviram Reichert and Sinfonia da Camera, Ian Hobson conducting.

Auditions will be held on the evening of Sunday, July 23, 2023, with winners announced no later than Monday morning.

Auditioning for the competition is open to all participants of the Summer Piano Institute but is not required. An accompanist will be provided for all participants.

Repertoire

Collegiate entrants should prepare a concerto, or concerted work, from the 18th to 21st-century for piano and perform this work from memory. Pre-College entrants are limited to one movement of a multi-movement work.
