Concerto Competition

All participants in the Summer Piano Institute are invited to audition for the opportunity to perform a piano concerto with the resident professional orchestra of Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, Sinfonia da Camera.

Auditions will be held between 5:00 and 8:00 PM, Sunday, July 24, 2022 with winners announced no later than Monday morning.

Eligibility

Both collegiate and pre-college registrants are eligible to compete. At least one winner in each division is expected.

Repertoire

Auditioning for a concerto slot is open to all participants of SPI, but is not required.  An accompanist will be provided at the audition.

Much repertoire is available to compete with but limited to one movement due to length restrictions. This does not need to be the first movement. Competitors also need not perform the same movement they compete with.

For modern pieces (20th and 21st Century) please enquire to make sure we can accommodate.

Single Movement Works: Some single movement works of shorter length such as the Strauss Burleske, Rachmaninov Paganini Variations and Weber Konzertstuck are also accepted.

Please contact us if you have any questions about repertoire.
