Esther Chang, Sophomore

“Hi! I am Esther and I wanted to join PUSAB to encourage inclusivity and diversity on campus, because I feel that is essential to an ideal college life. The topics that we discuss, which range from mental health to first-year experience, help build a healthy community. It’s an amazing opportunity to act like a bridge between the student body and the administration and to constantly voice our concerns.”

Amna Razi

“My journey at UIUC just started last semester as a transferred student from the College of DuPage where I served as the student body Vice President- a role that allowed me to sit on multiple advisory boards and acquire practical experience of effective board functioning and the decision-making process. Joining Provost’s Undergraduate Advisory Board at UIUC grants me a similar experience if not more rewarding.
I wanted to join PUSAB so I could feel more involved at the campus but also network with my fellow peers and professionals, grow in my leadership journey, and be a voice for the student body by actively advocating for the betterment and advancement of UIUC as a whole. I plan to follow the 3 tenants of leadership by actively participating, making conscious decisions, and appreciating everyone’s perspectives throughout my term on the board.”

Ben Shapiro, Freshman

“I joined the Provost’s Undergraduate Student Advisory Board because I want to make UIUC a more inclusive and equitable space for all students. I believe it shouldn’t matter where a student came from or what they look like. At UIUC, all students deserve the opportunity to be successful and achieve their goals.”

Himana Ancha
“I wanted to join the Provost’s Undergraduate Student Advisory Board to have a platform to share my experiences and express my unique perspective. I wanted to connect with administrators to implement real change across campus.”
Julia Ilecki
“I joined the Provost’s Undergraduate Student Advisory Board in order to create positive change at UIUC.  As a transfer student, coming to UIUC not only changed my life but allowed me to explore my passion and who I am as an individual.  This experience is not only unique to me, but to many others, thus joining the board, I can facilitate innovative change to continue bettering the environment that creates this experience for future and present students.
What I have enjoyed about my experience on the Provost Undergraduate Student Advisory board is the authentic and genuine community that we have. In this space, I have felt and seen the care and passion from the faculty that takes the time to listen and implement our ideas. Correspondingly, it is the students and faculty combined that cultivate the space into what it is; a place where we use our individual ideas to come together to innovate and strive for change. It is a space unlike any other and it is meaningful and inspiring.”
Kamara Davis

“Hello! My name is Kamara Davis and I joined the Board to help others gain a sense of belonging. Navigating higher education can be challenging, so doing my part to work with other student leaders to ensure a healthy, safe, and productive environment for students is imperative.”

Kathleen Jin

“I wanted to join the Provost’s Undergraduate Student Advisory Board because I care about the Illinois community, and I believe I have the ability to improve it. I am in the military, and I know exactly how belonging and inclusivity in a large group setting should feel like. I want to use this knowledge to transform UIUC’s culture into one that is more accepting and supportive of all.”

Kathryn Klein, Sophomore

“I’m super excited to work towards bringing our community together through these difficult times and creating an environment where everyone can be heard!”

Kimberly Stinson, Senior

“I became a part of the Provost’s Undergraduate Advisory Board because I wanted to utilize my own experiences to help enrich the experience of other undergraduate students who may experience feelings of exclusion in the University of Illinois community, especially transfer students.”

Maha Syed, Junior

“I joined PUSAB to use my voice to make changes that our student population needs. By being a member of this organization, I will be able to advocate for our undergraduate students.”

Nancy Wang, Freshman

“I wanted to join the Provost Undergraduate Student Advisory Board because I believe having the opportunity to create a platfrom where me and my peers can equally and safely share our opinions is crucial to the development of a more inclusive campus.”

Rijha Kamran, Junior

“I wanted to join the Provost’s Undergraduate Student Advisory Board because it is the perfect opportunity to be able to amplify the voices of the students here at the university. I think that bridging the gap between students and policy makers is something that we need here and can help pinpoint issues that directly affect us. So far, I have thoroughly enjoyed being able to work with like-minded individuals in focused groups and see the changes we talk about in meetings become reality.”

Sid Srikumar, Junior

“I joined the PUSAB because I wanted to make impactful change in the student experience at Illinois.
The best experience from this board has been meeting so many different people and listening to how their experience at Illinois shapes them.”

Trisha Murali, Freshman

“I’m Trisha Murali (she/her), a freshman in Computer and Electrical Engineering. I joined the Provost’s Undergraduate Student Advisory Board because I value the voices of everyone, and my goal is for them all to be heard. I’ve enjoyed meeting the wonderful people on the board and I love how respectful and supportive they are! I’m looking forward to making a positive impact with the team and all of you! “

Yureni Roman
