Becoming a 21st Century Lawyer: Wednesday, Jan. 27 at 5:00 in 1064 Lincoln Hall
What does it take to be a successful 21st century lawyer? The legal market has experienced drastic changes as technology has disrupted traditional legal services. What are current trends in the legal market, and how will it change in the future? Dan Katz, Associate Professor of Law and Director of the Law Lab at Illinois Tech–Chicago Kent College of Law, will share his unique insights into today’s legal market, including cutting-edge technological legal skills that 21st century lawyers need. He will outline steps that today’s pre-law students can use to begin building the skills of a 21st century lawyer, and he will demonstrate how he is changing legal services by launching The Law Lab.
Students will: Learn about the current legal market and cutting edge new legal service delivery, understand what skills future legal employers are seeking, and know how to begin developing those skills NOW. Read more about Professor Katz here.
LSAT Prep Fair: Monday, Feb. 1 from 4-6 pm in Illini Union Room B
What is on the Law School Admission Test, and how do students prepare for it? The LSAT Prep Fair is the perfect opportunity to: talk to a variety of LSAT prep companies about their offerings, learn more and watch a mini demonstration of LSAT test questions, get discounts on LSAT prep courses, or win an LSAT prep course scholarship! Have some snacks, learn about your LSAT prep options, and figure out how to ace logic games at the LSAT Prep Fair. Stop by or stay the whole time. Here is another opportunity for students to win an LSAT prep course scholarship. Illinois students taking the June or September 2016 LSAT: Do you want to take a prep course but you aren’t sure you can afford the tuition? Pre-Law Advising Services is pleased to announce the availability of two full LSAT prep course scholarships courtesy of Kaplan Test Prep. This need-based scholarship will provide a full LSAT prep course tuition waiver. Pre-Law 101: Monday, Feb. 8 at 4:00 in 514 Illini Union Bookstore Building
This workshop is for any Illinois student who is new to pre-law. This workshop covers: What it means to be a pre-law student at Illinois; the profile of a successful law school applicant; building a pre-law resume during undergraduate years; and what helpful resources exist on campus. All of your pre-law questions will be answered! This workshop is primarily aimed at first year students but all students are welcome. Please register here. This will be the only Pre-Law 101 workshop of the spring semester.
