FR/GER/SPAN proficiency test in January

Happy Sunny Friday Everyone!

Here is the information about the January SLCL language proficiency testing in French, German and Spanish (see message and link below). This test gives students the potential to proficiency out of the LOTE requirement in these languages as well as to earn college credit. Students must take the placement first and based on their results, may be eligible. A student who has had a college level language course in the language, is NOT eligible.

As a reminder, for all freshmen and transfer students, please encourage them to take the placement test during registration if they have not taken the AP or IB exams. They often decide later to take a language and this is helpful for them in knowing where to start. The language skills that are lost are not exponentially greater the further a student is removed from it so the placement test is still valuable even a year or two later.

If they no longer have the link to the placement exam, they can contact pnp@illinois.edu to see if they can have it opened back up to them.

The contact person for the proficiency exam if students or you have any questions is Debbie Kraybill. debrice@illinois.edu
