The purpose of the SPGO Amistades Program is to build connections between graduate students in the Department of Spanish & Portuguese. Incoming students are matched with current students to help provide support for navigating the graduate program and acclimating to life in Champaign-Urbana, including tips for balancing teaching and research, and learning about the resources on campus.
Expectations for participants include establishing email contact and meeting at minimum once within the first three weeks of the fall semester and once in the spring semester. Beyond that, it is up to each pair to decide how often to meet.
