Kaylee Kuzelka

BS Biochemistry, BS Molecular and Cellular Biology – Illinois State University 2020
Undergrad Researcher in the lab of Dr. Gregory Ferrence – 2017 to 2020
Summer Researcher in the lab of Dr. Suzanne Bart – Summer 2019
Doctoral Candidate in the lab of Dr. Satish Nair – 2020 to current

Kaylee joined the lab in 2020 on the heels of COVID-19 after graduating from Illinois State University with two bachelor’s degrees. Building on her previous experience with X-ray crystallography, she has been investigating a variety of SAM-dependent methyltransferases to establish and broaden their uses as biocatalysts.

When Kaylee is not doing very important biochemistry research (such as disassembling/reassembling FPLCs, forcing Linux programs to do their job, and spending Dr. Nair’s grant money) she can usually be found sleeping, playing video games, or enjoying the great outdoors.
