The first key outcome of the Student Affairs Strategic Planning process was the development of new vision, mission and values statements. The planning team determined that the vision and mission statements were interdependent so assigned both of those tasks to the same committee while a second committee developed the values statements.
Vision and Mission
A Vision statement should describe how Student Affairs should look when it is working well in relation to its environment and key stakeholders.
A Mission statement clarifies what Student Affairs does and why Student Affairs exists—who are we?
Values
A Values statement should articulate how Student Affairs will conduct itself. The statement should answer the question, “How do we treat others, and how do we want to be treated?”
