Industrial Coatings Research (ICR)
Mission and Rationale
The center will develop simulation technologies and identify key predictive capabilities needed for developing next-generation multifunctional coatings. Shared and distributed memory parallel computing capabilities will be used for developing state-of-the-art simulation platforms. Experimental validation efforts for each individual project will be identified for thrust areas and performed as needed. Five core areas have been identified:
- Area1: Mechanical Properties and Degradation
- Area 2: Virtual Toolbox for Coating Formulation
- Area 3: Design of Durable Nanofunctionality
- Area 4: Interfacial phenomena between Coating Layers
- Area 5: Application Methods and Coating Property Relationships
