5. Dash Project

A novel framework for the hardware and control co-design of dynamic humanoid robots with electric motors

The RoboDesign Lab is leading a multi-university project awarded with $1.2M by NSF’s NRI 3.0 program. The team is composed by the PI Prof. Ramos and Prof. Justin Yim, from UIUC, Prof. Patrick Wensing from the University of Notre Dame, and Prof. Donghyun Kim from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The team will develop the athletic humanoid robot Dash through a novel hardware and control co-design framework for high-performance robots with electric motors. The project focuses creating a highly athletic humanoid robot that will be open-sourced and accessible to other research teams.
