MATH 598 Course Policies and Assessment

Punctuality
  • Please arrive on time for every class.
Assignments
  • All work should be prepared to a professional standard. In particular, assignments must be typed, not handwritten, and should be submitted on a standard 8.5×11 inch piece of paper with your name at the top.
  • Each assignment will be graded Satisfactory or Unsatisfactory. One resubmission will be allowed, for any assignment graded Unsatisfactory.
Assessment
  • Assessment will be based on attendance, class participation, and the weekly assignments.
  • To gain a grade of Satisfactory for the course, students must: attend and participate actively in each class period, and complete Satisfactorily every assignment.
Exception: each student is permitted one late arrival or absence, and one assignment may be dropped (but not one of the teaching observations, or the final assignment).
  • Absences and missed assignments may be excused, for example due to illness, family emergencies or certain professional obligations. Please contact the professor as soon as possible (preferably in advance) if you cannot come to class or complete an assignment. Vacation and leisure plans are never a valid excuse for missing class or assigned work.
Additional policies
  • The professor reserves the right to modify course policies in exceptional circumstances. Please contact the professor if such circumstances are affecting your work.
