I am an incoming assistant professor of International and Global Studies at Portland State University. I have earned my Ph. D. in Geography (to be conferred in May 2018) from the University of Illinois, where I am a Fellow of the Graduate College.
I live in “Chambana,” twin towns with historical connections to one of my favorite South Asian poets, Rabindranath Tagore. I have lived (and attended grad school) in Athens in southeast Ohio and in Guwahati, an Indian city on the banks of Tsangpo/ Brahmaputra river. I grew up in Hyderabad in southern India, a city founded in 1589 AD with enduring connections to Iran and Turkey, and lived briefly in a German coastal town called Kiel, around 55 miles from Denmark border, as a toddler with a sadly limited cognition of life just a few months prior to the German unification!
I use this website to document my past and ongoing research, teaching, and service. Please feel free to send me an email to connect (or re-connect!) with me. Happy browsing!
