Description: For the week of Pollinator Week, join East Central Illinois Master Naturalists and Champaign County Master Gardeners to use iNaturalist to observe, identify, and record pollinators or any insect throughout Champaign Urbana.
How to participate:
- Install the iNaturalist app and set up an account.
- When you see an insect, open the iNaturalist app and tap Observe.
- Use your camera to take a photo of the insect, make sure the Details are correct and then Share your observation. iNaturalist will try to help you identify the insect, but even if aren’t able to identify it right away, make sure that the date and location are correct and indicate that you saw an insect and the iNaturalist community will help figure it out.
That’s it! Your observation will automatically be added to the Champaign-Urbana Pollinator Quest project. If you’d like to keep track of the project or be notified if we make a journal entry, join the project.
