May Update

May 7th, 2020

PSGSA elections for the 2020-2021 academic year will be taking place over finals week. Following the close of the semester, the Survey Committee will field the final survey of the year, the PSGSA Evaluation Survey. Please look out for these in your inboxes.

Additionally, we are welcoming 10 new students in our incoming cohort! Global situation permitting, hopefully we will be back on campus and to somewhat usual activities in fall.

Cancellations and Postponements

March 23rd, 2020

Please see the below notes about cancellations for the remainder of the semester. Resources will remain available as always on the PSGSA website. The Works in Progress page has also been updated for your information.

  • Volunteer Events: Books to Prisoners closed to public volunteer hours, so volunteer work for the semester is canceled/postponed.
  • Brown Bag Lunches: Canceled.
  • PSGSA Seminar Series: Postponed to fall.
  • MPSA Mentorship Program: Postponed to next year.
  • Use of PSGSA Funds: The trivia night at the beginning of the month was a great success, thanks to you all for the great turnout, and to the many professors that came as well, not to mention the great planning work by Kristin and Josh! We had originally planned to use these funds to reimburse grad students for MPSA-related travel costs. In light of MPSA’s cancellation, the Board agreed to save the funds for next year’s GSA to use.
  • Social Events: Canceled. Possibility of virtual events, to be discussed via email.

Welcome Back – Spring 2020

January 21st, 2020

Welcome back to campus and a new semester, everyone!

The PSGSA has scheduled most of the spring events ahead of time, so that you can all mark them on your calendars now. Also, we made sure to avoid any weeks with too many events, as happened a couple of weeks last semester.

On the calendar you can find information for all the social and sports events, PSGSA seminar series, and brown bag dates, as well as for all the department events like workshops and the professionalization series.

In the next couple of weeks, you will receive information about a trivia night (likely in February) and about the topics/presenters for the PSGSA seminar series. Meanwhile, enjoy the beginning of the semester!

Final Fall 2019 Update

December 2nd, 2019

The Work in Progress page was updated today, reflecting the current status of GSA and committee projects.

Also, our Job Market Materials Repository has been launched! You can access it using the same password as the other resources on this site. It currently includes materials from 11 alumni – they are available to view in individual folders, and there is an Excel sheet detailing the alumni who have provided materials and what materials are available from each.

Lastly, the Methods Sequence Committee chairship will shift from Sanghoon Kim to Miles Williams for Spring 2020, as Sanghoon will be out of the country for the duration of the semester.
