Description (for Block Editor sites, but not Classic Editor sites): Blocks for ACF Fields lets you effortlessly load and display Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) or Secure Custom Fields (SCF) inside the WordPress block editor using a single, flexible block.
Creator’s site: Blocks for ACF Fields
Prerequisites:
You’ll need to understand how to use ACF Fields, its customizable metadata fields, and how to identify your own ACF fields amid a list that will likely include other pre-created ACF fields as part of the Illinois Theme.
Principles of use:
First, contact the publish.illinois.edu team for access to ACF Fields and Blocks for ACF Fields.
Next, create field groups for the particular types of structured and repeating content that you want to display.
Next, choose the page or post in which you want your ACF field contents to be displayed. Insert one or more Blocks for ACF Fields to point to each piece of ACF content that you want to appear.
If you want a separate post or page for each row of data, you may want to create a custom content type within the ACF section.
Some potential use cases:
- A library-type collection with titles, authors, lengths, format, etc.
- A review-type collection with movie names, actors, years, runtime, etc.
- A more customizable event or schedule collection than the Illinois Template for a Conference, which uses the Moto Press plugin rather than this one.
