School on the Air Program in Philippine

The Department of Agriculture’s Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization has a “school-on-the-air” (SOA) program, which has been used to train 2,535 farmers since 2009. The program utilizes province-based radio stations to educate farmers on how to reduce PHL. The program broadcasts lectures by postharvest experts for a month’s duration, and administers two sets of exams for the farmers who listened to the lectures. Approximately 90% of those who participate in the program receive passing grades.
