Strategic Partnerships to Build African Scientific Capacity for Agriculture – Center for Strategic and International Studies

The Center for Strategic and International Studies released a report  suggesting cooperation between the U.S. and Africa to meet the challenges of feeding a growing population and reducing poverty. Several areas of opportunity between the U.S. and Africa are recommended, including: research must be focused and driven by pragmatism and the potential for impact; building long-term indigenous African research capacities; coordinating research across the range of institutions in Africa, as well as engaging African universities more fully in national agricultural planning; and, private sector partnerships should be encouraged to provide experience in advanced research facilities.
