Effect of Age on Taste and Smell
Seeking adults and children to volunteer for a tasting and smelling study
Looking for volunteers in the ages of 6-10, 12-16, 18-22, and >=60 to participate in a taste and smell test exploring the effects of development and aging on the senses of taste and smell. You may participate in up to two study visits lasting about 60 minutes each. Participants will receive a $20 Amazon gift card upon completion of each study visit. Sweet Taste Study
Seeking participants for a study on the effect of sweet taste on blood sugar.
Participants aged 21-45, non-smokers, with a BMI >30 kg/m2 and no diabetes will complete questionnaires, taste testing, body composition, and blood draws and receive up to $500 upon completion of 5 visits (between 2 to 6 hours each). This study examines the effect of bariatric surgery on taste perception and eating behavior. It also looks at how genetics plays a role in flavor perception.
Who is needed for this research study?
1. Females and Males, ages 18-64
2. Volunteers must be planning to undergo Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass, Sleeve Gastrectomy or Laparoscopic Gastric Banding, or have undergone one of these bariatric surgeries 2-5 years ago
3. Volunteers must not smoke Study participants will have between 2-4 visits. They will participate in food and smell perception tests, questionnaires, and sensory tests.
Participants will be compensated $50 for each visit completed.
