The aim of the project is further the investigation into the underlying genetics of chronic wasting disease by creating a de novo genome assembly of the white-tailed deer genome using single molecule real time sequencing.

SPRINGFIELD, IL – As of October 29, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) has received reports of 432 suspected cases of Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease (EHD) in white-tailed deer so far in 2018.
