Interest:

I am an undergraduate senior who is majoring in Molecular and Cellular Biology and minoring in Animal Sciences; I am expecting to graduate May 2022. With this academic focus, I am going to pursue a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and with this profession, work in a small animal and/or wildlife clinic. I started working for the Wildlife Veterinary Epidemiology Laboratory in January of 2020. Since then, I have learned a lot about all of the work and effort that goes into the research that our lab performs, such as the management of Chronic Wasting Disease in white-tailed deer in Illinois. As an undergraduate student, my roles in this lab include processing tissue samples, logging data, properly informing the public about this disease, performing individual research in regards to the DRD4 gene of white-tailed deer and presenting it at the Undergraduate Research Symposium, and much more.
