Biography

Brenna graduated from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana majoring in Animal Sciences in ACES in 2014. She concentrated in Pre-Veterinary Medicine in hopes of becoming a Veterinarian. She was a Research Assistant in the Wildlife Disease Ecology Laboratory at the Meat Sciences Laboratory working mainly with Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) in white-tailed deer. She also completed her own research project of Optimizing a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) Detection of Toxoplasma gondii in Infected Cat Excrement through the ACES Undergraduate Research Scholarship Program. This research project helped develop her interests in animal diseases from a veterinary perspective as well as tested a diagnostic tool for future use in epidemiological research.
