To study biological and psychosocial stress factors and their impact on mental health, cognitive function, and cardiometabolic outcomes in preadolescents and adolescents.
- Over an academic year.
- 8-14 years old
Description
The primary aim of this study will be to examine biological and psychosocial factors of stress and their relationship with mental health, cognitive function, and cardiometabolic outcomes over the course of an academic year in preadolescent and adolescent individuals ages 8 to 14 years. As a secondary aim, aerobic fitness and physical activity will be measured to observe if physical activity behavior and/or fitness influence the relationship between predictors and outcomes. Results from this study may identify key factors in early life that contribute to the mental well-being, cognitive, and physical development of individuals through young adulthood.
