About

Meeting the needs of the community

The Illinois NeuroBehavioral Assessment Laboratory (INBAL) offers unique services and education for individuals and families throughout the lifespan. Our services include:

  • Psychological testing and evaluation
  • Targeted assessments or “check-ups”
  • Behavior review and screening
  • Consultations

Whether you are a concerned parent, an educator or provider, or a lifelong learner, we strive to provide knowledge and tools to help individuals reach their full potential.

Training the next generation

INBAL provides unique opportunities for new curriculum in assessment and measurement for undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students studying psychology, psychiatry/medicine, statistics, educational psychology, education, human development and family studies, and social work.

Coursework organized with INBAL is expected to serve the existing professional master’s programs at the University of Illinois in psychology, education, labor and employment relations, business and social work.

Cutting-edge knowledge and approaches to research

INBAL fosters innovative research collaborations focused on identifying rich measures of behavioral performance, cognitive and emotional processes, personality, and social behaviors. These new measures will inform research related to:

  • Human capital formation
  • Population health
  • Big data approaches to the assessment sciences

We aim to become a repository of expertise to help other institutions better assess psychosocial factors. This data will inform multiple fields, including psychology, economics, sociology, demography, education, social work, and medicine.
